This section is provided for qualified healthcare practitioners as professional education. It summarises selected ingredient-level, pathway-level and traditional-use research relating to spleen-qi support, digestive pattern assessment, intestinal threadworm / pinworm support and botanical constituent research. It does not represent additional ARTG indications for Gut Bug.

Gut Bug is relevant to practitioners interested in traditional Chinese medicine spleen-qi support, spleen fortification, digestive pattern assessment, intestinal threadworm / pinworm support and botanical vermifuge traditions.

Quisqualis indica seed is included as part of the traditional vermifuge profile. It has a long history of traditional use in Chinese herbal medicine, and recent analytical research has examined its volatile constituents and quality characteristics across different origins. This supports practitioner education around the botanical identity and traditional-use profile of Quisqualis indica.

Atractylodes macrocephala is traditionally used in Chinese medicine in spleen-qi and digestive-support contexts. Recent review literature has discussed Atractylodes macrocephala polysaccharides in relation to gut microbiota, immune modulation, gut–brain axis research and intestinal pathway models. This supports practitioner education around spleen-qi support and gastrointestinal ecology.

Atractylodes macrocephala and Raphanus sativus have also been studied together in preclinical constipation and gut microbiota research, including short-chain fatty acid and serotonin-related pathway discussion. This is relevant to ingredient-level digestive pathway education, without creating additional product indications.

Sophora flavescens is included as part of the broader traditional formula profile. Sophora-derived constituents have been discussed in professional literature in relation to phytochemistry, inflammatory pathways, antimicrobial pathway research and antiparasitic research. This information is provided as ingredient-level education only and should not be presented as a broad antimicrobial or anti-parasitic product claim.

Dioscorea oppositifolia, Dolichos lablab, Citrus reticulata, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Lindera strychnifolia, Stemona japonica, Wolfiporia cocos, Inula helenium and Sparganium stoloniferum are included as part of the broader traditional spleen-supporting and digestive pattern formula profile. Practitioner interest may include spleen-qi support, digestive comfort, Qi movement, dampness-related traditional concepts, botanical constituents and gastrointestinal environment research.

The combination of spleen-supporting, digestive-pattern and vermifuge traditional Chinese medicine ingredients supports practitioner education around spleen-qi, spleen fortification and intestinal threadworm / pinworm support.
